This is the very first DVD of Tom and Jerry cartoons. It has a total of 14 shorts, plus a clip from the movie ANCHOR'S AWAY featuring Jerry doing a dance with Gene Kelly. The 14 cartoons that they included are all noble. A few Oscar winners are included. All 14 are from the early period when Tom and Jerry were directed by Hanna and Barbera. Most of these are cartoons that I have never seen before. There is quite a bit of violence in these cartoons, and that's worthy, because that's how cartoons are supposed to be! Several of the cartoons have blackface gags, so if you are offended by that kind of thing, then I am letting you know in approach. For example, there's a scene where Jerry's face is dipped in shoe polish, and afterwords he has a blackface.
Unfortunatley, one of the cartoons has been edited! This really ticks me off! In the novel version of "The Cramped Orphan," a lit candle lands on Tom's tail. His whole body is burned and turns unlit. Then the dim Tom gets pushed into a cabinet of dishes. But on this DVD, the entire fragment where Tom is shaded has been deleted. This really Ticks me off! It's terrible enough that they edit the cartoons when they play them on TV, but to edit them on a DVD is beyond ridiculous. Actually, I knew that the DVD was edited even before I bought it, but I bought it anyway because I fancy these cartoons! But level-headed I don't understand why they edited it. I beget plenty of R-rated movies with verbalize that some people might opinion as being "offensive," but none of those are edited. So I guess some people deem that a cartoon is somehow more offensive than an R-rated movie.
Well, despite this one flaw, this is an proper DVD. The other 13 cartoons are all complete and uncut. The portray and sound quality is absolutely wonderful. There's this one cartoon where Jerry is on top of a skyscaper in Current York City, and he's hanging over the edge and when they indicate the challenging traffic down below I almost got dizzy looking at it. All those itty bitty cars indicate up so certain on my TV mask. They really did a splendid job with the relate and sound here. Also it's nice to be able to scrutinize these cartoons without any of those tedious network TV logos on the mask.
I am a mountainous fan of classic (i.e., before 1970) cartoons. In the modern absence of Looney Tunes/Merrie Melodies DVDs, this Tom and Jerry DVD is my approved currently existing animation DVD.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Tom and Jerry's Greatest Chases! Click Here
First, this DVD contains 13 complete and uncut classic Tom and Jerry cartoons. The selection of cartoons is very honorable. They have lots of action and are very well written. The quality of the represent is agreeable. They did a very ample job of mastering these 13 cartoons. If you are a Tom and Jerry fan then you will be very elated with these 13 cartoons.
Also included is a clip from the movie ANCHOR'S AWAY featuring Jerry dancing with Gene Kelly. I contemplate this to be a very nice bonus feature.
This DVD is *almost* perfect. However, there is one flaw. Specificallly, the cartoon "The Limited Orphan" has been edited. In the fresh cartoon, after a candle lands on Tom's tail, Tom turns dim. Then the slight mouse throws a champagne bottle at the unlit Tom, and the shadowy Tom is pushed into a cabinet of dishes. All of this piece has been edited out of this cartoon on this DVD.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Tom and Jerry's Greatest Chases! Click Here
It's really dreadful that they would grasp section of the cartoon. I paid for the cartoon, and I deserve to score what I paid for.
Avex DVD To AVI, MPEG2, 3g, mp4, PSP, Ipod Converter Software...Hurry!
Eliminate Credit Card Debts | Get Rid of Credit Card Debt Now.

I rented this movie about a year ago and the scenes were so shapely i teared up. I finally purchased it, against my minimalist ideals, and i couldn't be happier with owning it. Truly a unbelievable contemplate at the nature around us. Goregeous cinematography, large convey. I wish it were a longer video.
I owned more than 10 DVD collections of this genre such as Planet Earth, Walking with dinosaurs. Secret of Life on Earth is ranked at the bottom because of the reasons listed below.

Buy,Download, Or Stream The Secret of Life on Earth!

This DVD is self-recommending if only because it is by our leading music documentarian, Bruno Monsaingeon, and is about one of music's legendary figures, Glenn Gould. Add to that the fact that Monsaingeon and Gould were friends for thirty years and that Monsaingeon had already made a number of previous documentaries about Gould, and you have a recipe for a tremendous film. Monsaingeon is a working musician (a violinist) as well and his ability to understand the musical aspects of Gould's life is beyond examine. (There is even a clip of Monsaingeon playing first violin in a snippet of Gould's Opus 1, his String Quartet.) Gould, of course, was himself a documentarian and he certainly left leisurely miles of film in which he plays, discourses about music and all manner of other things. There are even home movies of Gould as a young teen playing on the family piano.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Glenn Gould: Hereafter! Click Here
One charming conceit of the film is that Monsaingeon found five 'ordinary people' whose lives had been touched in special ways by Gould's playing and he filmed them in various activities connected with that. For instance, there is a aged rock musician who goes sparkling far to commemorate her emotional connection with Gould -- I won't spoil the surprise by telling you what it was she did. There is a Russian woman who develops a missionary fervor about exposing others to Gould's music. There is an Italian woman who makes a pilgrimage to Toronto and has a dialog with the startlingly lifelike statue of Gould that sits outside the Gould studio there.

One might wonder what more could be said about Gould after all the previous books and films about him. It is a tribute to Monsaingeon's art that he found a arrangement to arrive his subject in a recent and exciting manner. He constructs the documentary as if it were being narrated by Gould himself. Gould's fabled Lincoln Continental becomes a character in the proceedings, traveling through ravishingly photographed northern Canadian forests as we hear Gould discourse in a voice-over on various things. There are numerous video and audio clips, some never seen before, that give us a taste of both his playing and his thinking. We hear and study him play music not generally associated with him -- especially by those who reflect of Gould as being a Bach specialist -- music by Hindemith, Chopin, Weber, Beethoven, Mendelssohn, and others, even Gould's quirky Mozart.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Glenn Gould: Hereafter! Click Here
Gould's personal eccentricities are not emphasized but are not avoided either. One does, however, approach away, yet again, reminded of George Szell's eminent issue about him, 'That nut is a genius!'. Gould was an utterly recent and distinguished figure and it is no wonder that almost twenty-five years after his tragic death at 50, in 1982, his life is aloof being explored and eminent.

So, even if you've seen other films about Gould, including those by Monsaingeon, you will be rewarded by watching this film.

Strongly recommended.

Scott Morrison
Mr. Morrisson is a terrific reviewer - and I abominate to disagree with him so strongly... but I want to establish forward to consideration at least the possibility that this Monsaigneon film about Glenn Gould's Ghost (more or less) is an bad portion of shlock and surely (hopefully) Monsaigneon's worst pains. (I don't powerful like his Boulanger one either, but that's a.) an early work and b.) not nearly as tacky as this hagiography here.)

I won't say that this film *is* awful, but I believe it will be bad to many viewers who arrive this with high hopes of learning more about GG, the person (or musician, for that matter) . Anyone who has read and enjoyed Kevin Bazzana's "A Wondrous Peculiar", for example, might come this one with caution. Why? Well, because it's a hooky and kookey collection of reminiscenses about Gould by people who are in esteem with the thought of Gould. A Russian lady had her rheumaticism cured by listening to Gould on the radio, an Italian lady talks to (and even kisses? I don't remember) his spirit and statue in Toronto... it's the kind of mystisizing of Gould that will seem (legitimately) creepy to a lot of people. I could barely discover the whole thing. 'Tis tacky and really has nothing to do with Gould but rather the wackiness that he inspired in others - others who didn't even know him.

For what it is worth: I have talked to a friend of Glenn Gould's who has written prolifically about him (and edited his letters), who similarly shuddered in disgust about this film.

With so great visual material that is left of Gould himself (CBC material, his radio shows et al.), this can't be considered as seriously contributing to our belief of Gould. I'd mighty rather recommend the "Thirty Two Short Films about Glenn Gould" semi-filmography.

To those who feel inclined to agree with the other, very determined reviews: I wish not to be so ungraceful as to hold a bone from a dog... but caveat emptor!
Earn Extra Cash from Home | Multiple Income Streams | Multiple Streams of Income | Money From Home | Make Money on the Internet
Multiple Income Streams | Multiple Streams of Income | Earn Money From Home | Make Money on the Internet

A couple of weeks ago, I purchased Season One of "24" for one simple reason...I'd heard it was great, but mainly I fair wanted some sort of TV drama (my popular kind of drama!) to pass the time until LOST returns. Suffice it to say, though, that I will be MAKING time for 24 in the coming weeks and months!

Buy,Download, Or Stream 24: Season One! Click Here
Essentially, the status of "24" involves the United States Counter Terrorism Unit (headed by Jack Bauer) trying to prevent an assassination attempt on presidential hopeful Senator David Palmer. Many more layers site added on with each hour, but there are so many twists and turns that it would be impossible to define them all.

The region is spellbinding, but the main aspect of the demonstrate that kept my attention for, well, almost 24 hours, is the intensity of every single episode. While some shows (The X-Files immediately comes to mind) are able to "behind off" and film outlandish episodes every once in awhile only to glean support in gear for sweeps months, 24's format requires that the action never let up. Each episode is impartial as critical and spellbinding as the ones previous.

Buy,Download, Or Stream 24: Season One! Click Here
Plus, to add to the complexity of the display, three different threads are going on during the reveal at once. Palmer's family struggles with what to do about a family tragedy, Jack Bauer puts the intelligence pieces together, while the terrorists kidnap Jack's family and expend them as leverage. There is never a boring moment!

Finally, the acting is very compelling as well. Kiefer Sutherland (noteworthy like Matthew Fox's Jack Shepherd on LOST) is fantastically intense, while Dennis Haysbert (Palmer) almost steals the point to with the portrayal of his moral/ethical dilemmas.

So, if you (like I was) are looking for a indicate to complement LOST (or any other TV program), 24 is a titanic series to collect crooked on. Be warned, though, that it is very addicting and you will likely want to carry out it sooner than later!
I appreciate these slim packs of 24 but I mean why in the world do they cost more than the recent pack of 24?? You can grasp the normal spot for about 20-30$, and I do not understand why the release version of the same thing is twice the mark of the new release?
Avex DVD To AVI, MPEG2, 3g, mp4, PSP, Ipod Converter Software...Hurry!
Earn Extra Cash from Home | Multiple Income Streams | Multiple Streams of Income | Money From Home | Make Money on the Internet

Well done DVD with historic clips and plenty of information and history. I would reccomend this DVD to anyone who is looking for the inside scoop on Bill Cody. I especially loved the worn film clips which are hard to derive.
Brad Pitt's film showed how Jesse James' fame was made by books that were unsuitable. Banderas made a movie in which Pancho Villa's attempt to develop a film was more indispensable than the cause for his revolutionary activities. This work illustrates that B. Bill was a showman who worked their entertainment, rather than history.

Buy,Download, Or Stream American Experience: Buffalo Bill! Click Here
If I remember correctly, the AE series has completed documentaries on Annie Oakley and Sitting Bull before this one. Since those two performed in Bill's present, I wonder if footage was lifted from those frail works. As B. Bill's exhibit had a illustrious woman, distinguished Native American, and illustrious white man, the interviewees reflected those three groups as well.
Surprisingly, this work made me contemplate about African-American history at times. The work basically says Europeans liked Bill's note because it was exotic. The Dusky vaudeville shows of the early 1900s that introduced Josephine Baker to France depended upon exoticism. In film at least, Sally Hemmings' brother refuses to leave France with Jefferson and go support to being a slave in the US. This documentary said some Lakota hated being in Europe and away from their tribal community, but some blossomed in the fresh environment.
The work says film basically killed off large stage acts like B.Bill's. Whelp! "Video killed the radio star." Plenty of people my age have never touched a vinyl LP in their lives. You peruse less pay phones in the public because it's assumed that everyone has a cell phone. The map current inventions basically ruin off customary favorites fascinates me.
This work said Queen Victoria loved B. Bill's display. That reminded me of how "The Simpsons" have suggested that Queen Elizabeth is one of its fans. B. Bill tried to divorce the wife he abandoned and the public condemned him for it. Luckily, the couple had a cheerful ending. Smooth, Frank Lloyd Wright assumed that his architecture was so astounding that no one would care that he left his wife for a younger woman, but he was immoral. Putting M. Lewinsky in my head, the public can examine down upon illustrious men for their improprieties; it's a centuries-old practice.
Residual Income Opportunity Online | Extra Income
Avex DVD To AVI, MPEG2, 3g, mp4, PSP, Ipod Converter Software...Hurry!

Robert F. Kennedy was adored by the masses when he won the notable for the Democratic party, on his contrivance to becoming the president. Then, like his presidential brother, he was gunned down in public. (That was Plan before I was born, so distinguished of what I know comes from books)

Buy,Download, Or Stream Bobby! Click Here
Emilio Estevez doesn't exactly focus on that in "Bobby." Instead, he creates an define "Colossal Hotel"-style dwelling, focusing on the people who surrounded Kennedy on the last day of his life. The movie is a diminutive scattered throughout the first parts, but Estevez yanks it together in time for the inevitable, tragic denouement.

The entire movie takes dwelling on one day: June 4, 1968. The place: Los Angeles' Ambassador Hotel. And there's as distinguished drama out of the campaign as in it: For example, the manager (William H. Macy) is cheating on his luminous beautician wife (Sharon Stone) with the switchboard girl (Heather Graham), but takes some time out to fire a racist supervisor (Christian Slater) because the guy won't let the dim and Latin employees vote.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Bobby! Click Here
The doorman (Anthony Hopkins) and his pal (Harry Belafonte) play chess and talk. A lounge singer (Demi Moore) is struggling with alcoholism, a young girl (Lindsay Lohan) is marrying a guy she doesn't admire (Elijah Wood) to retain him from going to Vietnam, and campaign workers descend acid. Their stories are only loosely intwertwined -- until Sirhan Sirhan arrives.

Estevez has created a movie that Tries To Have It All. It tackles racism, war, fancy, voting, women's rights, and the adored icons of an era. It also stars objective about every kind of actor: veterans, Bratpackers, ex-sexpots, MTV stars, party girls and accomplished young actors.

In fact, "Bobby" spills over with spot and characters, and for the first two thirds, it seems that there is almost too great of EVERYTHING. But Estevez captures the you-are-there ambience, with crisp suits and longer dresses, trim hair, period music and the occasional baseball reference. For a day, you ARE in Los Angeles in 1968.

And he has a knack for creating a sense of foreboding and sadness, which hangs independently of the characters. Yet in some scenes where Kennedy is supposed to be speaking, the shimmering eagerness that you contemplate in the audience's faces is enough to bowl you over. It captures the hope that was prove during that era, and afterwards died hastily, as hope usually does.

The spacious cast makes it hard to single out one, but there are several generous ones: Laurence Fishborne and Freddy Rodriguez as cooks who discuss the racism they struggle with, Macy as the manager who struggles to secure his lost youth by an affair, Stone as his ancient beauty of a wife, and Wood's bittersweet, ironic portrayal of the young groom.

Kennedy himself is a nebulous figure -- most of what we notice are archival clips, which display the young candidate's charisma and power. Although "Bobby's" hold on him is rather naive, it does leave you wondering how he might have changed the US, had he lived.

"Bobby" is high on ambition, and Estevez manages to obtain a truly poignant, thought-provoking film. It has its flaws, but it also captures a horrid moment in American history.
The year of 1968 will forever be remembered in American history as one of the darkest on recount. Martin Luther King, Jr. was shot, the Vietnam War was escalating, drug abuse was on a rampage, and, as told in this generous film by Emilio Estevez, Robert F. Kennedy was assassinated.

The film centers on one day; June 4, 1968, the day of the California Presidential Principal. The spot of the film is the Ambassador Hotel. Bobby Kennedy, who said he would descend out of the urge if he lost the significant, was scheduled to appear at the hotel later that evening. During the course of the day, several events sharp several different people unfold as the anticipated time of Kennedy's arrival draws arrive.

Paul (William H. Macy), the hotel manager is married to Miriam (Sharon Stone), the hotel hairstylist, but he's having an affair with Angela (Heather Graham), a hotel switchboard operator. Paul also fires Timmons (Christian Slater), the kitchen manager, because of his refusal to give his Hispanic and Dark employees time off to vote. Jose, a bus boy, has found out that he has to work a double shift in the kitchen, so he'll be unable to befriend the Dodgers game which he bought tickets for. Since he can't relieve, he gives the tickets to head chef Edward Robinson (Laurence Fishburne) .

David (Elijah Wood) and Diane (Lindsay Lohan) are scheduled to be married at the hotel. Diane has agreed to marry William so he won't have to go to Vietnam. She will come by $135 per month until William is safely serving in Germany. After that, the marriage can be annulled. But, as the movie goes on, Diane genuinely falls in fancy with William. John Casey (Anthony Hopkins) and Nelson (Harry Belafonte) are two older gentlemen who bask in spending their days playng chess at the hotel. John, a mature hotel doorman, has claimed to have seen many prominent people at the hotel, including JFK, Truman, and FDR. Virginia Fallon (Demi Moore) and her husband Tim Fallon (Emilio Estevez) are staying at the hotel. Virginia is a lounge singer who is battling alcoholism. June 4 is to be her last night of performing at the Ambassador, and she's supposed to introduce Robert F. Kennedy. Dwayne (Slice Cannon) is an assistant working on the Kennedy campaign.

As the day unfolds, these lives will forever be changed as Robert Kennedy makes his appearance at the hotel. Another uninvited guest arrived at the hotel immediately before Kennedy. His name: Sirhan Sirhan (David Kobyantsev) That evening, as the guests are gathered in the main hotel ballroom, Kennedy is whisked away through the kitchen after giving his California victory speech, but, hiding among the well-wishers is Sirhan, who fired several shots at Kennedy. Several in the crowd were struck, including William and Timmons, but Kennedy was mortally wounded. He died at Pleasurable Samaritan hospital on June 6, 1968.

Director Emilio Estevez has done a elegant job in describing the events which took plot at the Ambassador hotel. The all-star cast of actors assembled by Estevez did wonderful jobs in their roles, and the viewer can almost feel the tension acquire as Sirhan Sirhan walked through the front door.

I give this movie my highest recommendation. I'm a vast fan of historical movies, and this movie is one of the best I've seen in quite a while. This movie captures the essence of the year 1968; the day of June 4th began with huge hope for the country, yet it ended in tragedy, and unfortunately, a intellectual young man had to pay the ultimate note.

Multiple Income Streams | Multiple Streams of Income | Earn Money From Home | Make Money on the Internet
Eliminate Credit Card Debts | Get Rid of Credit Card Debt Now.

First of all, I worship this movie. I was quite surprised to look it's release on DVD, and needless to say, I grabbed it. There is no doubt that this disc is loaded with extras, but sadly, the claim that the film has been "fully restored" is extremely misleading. The advantage of these review forums, is to provide insight, from someone who has already bought the product, to those enthusiastic. And, that's what I'm here to do.
Here are the DVD's special features, as listed: LETTERBOXED PRESENTATION (1.85:1), REMASTERED SOUNDTRACK (in Dolby 5.1 and DTS), NEVER-BEFORE-SEEN FOOTAGE, AUDIO COMMENTARY: Jack Vacek (Cinematographer) and Warner Leighton (Editor), 3 TRAILERS (The modern theatrical trailers for "GONE IN 60 SECONDS" and "THE JUNKMAN", and another for the remastered version of "GONE IN 60 SECONDS"), EXTENSIVE BEHIND-THE-SCENES PHOTO GALLERY, DVD-ROM CAPABILITIES, INTRODUCTION with Denice Halicki (H.B. Halicki's widow) and "Eleanor".
Sounds very enticing, upright? That's what I opinion. Hell, to be impartial, I really didn't care about the extras, as long as I could gain H.B. Halicki's recent classic on DVD! Naturally, I immediately assign the DVD in. Then, my dissapointment began.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Gone in 60 Seconds! Click Here
Now, what the packaging WON'T enlighten you, and what I'm about to, is that this isn't, in fact, a "fully restored" version of the film, but rather, one that has been doctored. Unfortunately, the entire film has been RE-SCORED with crappy music, supposedly aimed at "updating" this classic film, thereby dumping ALL the music from the novel crop. Yep, the catchy opening title "GONE IN 60 SECONDS" tune is gone, along with the "SUPERMAN" tune, and everything else, as well. Needless, to say, I am very disappointed. Why do people feel the need to mess with movies, like they do? I don't reflect H.B. Halicki would have been proud with what his widow has done with the rights to the film, so far.
I probably wouldn't have minded this DVD release, if it had offered the current mono soundtrack on a separate audio channel, like most other remastered DVD's offer. Then, I would have been aesthetic with it, as long as I could have the version I wanted to ogle. Instead, anyone with hopes to secure a notice novel copy on either DVD or video of this classic car theft film, in it's unusual format, are exquisite noteworthy screwed. And, that's too awful. So, my advice is to stick with the unusual out-of-print MEDIA Home Entertainment release. Hold me, that tape will detached be in tall interrogate for years to arrive.
One more thing, there is a website: www.gonein60seconds.com. Perhaps, this would be a colossal situation for fair fans of the film to file their complaints. And, who knows, maybe someday we will explore the unusual version released in a respective manner on DVD.
First of all, I've loved this movie since I was 6 years traditional. My mom and dad saw it in the cinema -- more than once -- while they were dating in 1974. To say the least, this title holds special significance in my whole family. Which is why it's colossal to study it re-released on both VHS and DVD for all to devour.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Gone in 60 Seconds! Click Here
For those of you who, like me, have every scene, every line, every sound do of the modern movie committed to memory, you will be apprehensive when you play the "remastered" version. For one thing, the relate is splendid. It's never looked so pleasurable. And the soundtrack has never sounded so edifying, either -- because it's been completely redone from scratch. That's the other thing. The sound effects are all recent. Gone are the authentic, live-recorded engine sounds, tire screeches, and other hard effects. Gone also is the recent music, including my current tune, "I Do Hope The Man Doesn't Acquire Me", and the title song, "Gone In Sixty Seconds". For someone looking for a suitable re-release of the authentic, current film, this is disappointing. But for me, someone who already owns an unusual copy of the former MEDIA videotape release of the film, I study this remastered version unprejudiced as a fun modernization of one of my accepted flicks.
The novel sound effects are resplendent. I am a sound designer among other things, and some of the unique crashes and guttural V8 engine sounds made me drool. They may not be true-to-life anymore, but they are tall in their enjoy upright. It's almost surreal, seeing all these former muscle cars, but hearing crystal-clear digital stereo effects. By dissimilarity, the disturbingly mono unusual dialogue track underlaid beneath them sounds almost ridiculous! Fortunately, there is no need for worthy talking during the 40-minute sail, easily the highlight of the film.
In short, to really relish the remastered version of Gone In 60 Seconds, you've got to hold it for what it is -- a unusual "refreshment" of the current film. It's been remixed to appeal more to the same young crowd who enjoyed the 2000 remake with Nicholas Cage. If you are a accurate Gone In 60 Seconds fan, however, don't discontinuance here. Go in search of the fresh 1974 film in all its glory, on its recent video cassette. A proper fan must indeed have both, for the audio differences between the two versions are so sure, you could almost judge them two separate films.
Eliminate Credit Card Debts | Get Rid of Credit Card Debt Now.
Avex DVD To AVI, MPEG2, 3g, mp4, PSP, Ipod Converter Software...Hurry!

When my twenty year old-fashioned daughter came home from college, she went to the video store and came home with this film, a comedy with a fairly righteous cast. Neither I nor my daughter knew distinguished about this movie. Well, were we in for a tremendous surprise! The humor throughout was truly raunchy, ribald, and raw. It was also, at times, quite laughable. If you are a fan of the Farrelly Brothers movies or indulge in improper comedies, then you may luxuriate in this. Instead of the guys being sinful, however, it's the gals.
This movie revolves around three gal pals, Christina (Cameron Diaz), Courtney (Christine Applegate), and Jane (Selma Blair) and their discontinuance encounters with the male kind. The guys, however, definitely buy a wait on seat to these three twenty something misses. I confess, it was a bit startling, though laughable, to perceive these gals rupture into a song fit for a drunken stag party. Some of the scenes were done tongue and cheek. Check out the Dick and Jane scene. You will know the scene I mean, when you peruse it.
This film is not for those with magnificent sensibilities, as erect male sex organs, anal sex, oral copulation, and other usually taboo subjects are ripe for gags, many of which, while filthy, are often humorous. If you do not like your jokes down and dirty, then this is not the film for you. If you are broader minded, then you may appreciate Nancy Pimental's screenplay and the comical cavorting of the delectable Cameron Diaz, Christina Applegate, and Selma Blair, once you acquire over your initial shock.
Cameron Diaz plays Christina, a woman who's in denial of fearing commitment. Her room-mates Courtney and Jane, played by Christina Applegate and Selma Blair, are also in the same jam.

Buy,Download, Or Stream The Sweetest Thing! Click Here
They go to a dance club and Christina grabs into Peter, played by Thomas Jane. Sensing chemistry without getting the whole fable, Christina and Courtney retract a road roam to secure him.
The commercial for this movie makes it see like a chick flick; but, in reality, it's more of a female skin fest, featuring Cameron Diaz and Christina Applegate in very skimpy outfits.
I couldn't quite figure out why this movie is rated R. Scary Movie (the first one) had grosser humor in it than this and it was rated PG-13.

Buy,Download, Or Stream The Sweetest Thing! It does have it's comic moments, including a... uhhh, tonsil piercing of sorts.
Pre-movie warnings: VERY brief nudity (male butt cheeks), profanity, a truckload of innuendo, ladies' room groping, some off-key singing on Cameron's allotment, and the re-immergence of the acting career of Jason Bateman (don't ask me why) .
A semi-decent matinee date movie; but, I wouldn't shell out the night time bucks on this one.
Eliminate Credit Card Debts | Get Rid of Credit Card Debt Now.
Residual Income Opportunity Online | Extra Cash Income

Exquisite. That one adjective describes both this film, and its leading lady. Although she is best remembered as the title character in the classic 1944 mystery, "Laura", and received greater acclaim for her Oscar-nominated performance in the highest-grossing 20th Century-Fox film of the 1940's, "Leave Her to Heaven", "The Ghost and Mrs. Muir" nonetheless remains Gene Tierney's most successful film performance. As Lucy Muir, a intriguing British widow at the turn of the 20th century who falls in cherish with the ghost of a sea captain, Miss Tierney is on conceal in every scene of the film, and dazzles throughout with her ethereal beauty and her thespic versatility. Afforded the rare opportunity to play moments of high comedy, aloof drama, and romantic yearning all in one film, Miss Tierney never once strikes a unfounded ticket. She is particularly touching in the sequence during which the middle-aged Mrs. Muir reflects on the past with her grown daughter; in the hands of a lesser actress, this scene could easily have become maudlin and overly sentimental, but Tierney plays it with a collected dignity and sweet determine that distills the essence of her blooming and independent character.
Yet, while "The Ghost and Mrs. Muir" is arguably Tierney's best film, its success is not due to her efforts alone. Rex Harrison, in his second American film, also triumphs as the salty sea captain whose gruff veneer is slowly peeled away by the certain widow sharing his home. The scene in which he bids her a tender farewell is brilliantly played. George Sanders excels in his role as a romantic cad; the vocal sneer he practically patented on film suits his allotment here perfectly. And the entire production is aided tremendously by Bernard Herrmann's lush and majestic procure, as well as Charles Lang's Oscar-nominated cinematography (that nomination was for the 1947 awards, by the the plan, not the 1942 ceremonies as incorrectly illustrious on the front of the DVD box) .
Speaking of the DVD, the transfer is - in the 20th Century-Fox Home Video tradition - disappointing. While the source print is noteworthy better that the one ancient for the VHS and laserdisc releases, and is infinitely salubrious to the scratchy, poorly-spliced copy that is often screened on pay-TV stations like AMC, the film has not been digitally restored. There are unruffled distinguished flutters (especially noticeable during the opening credits), scratches, and jumps in both the describe and the soundtrack. The DVD does include the rarely-seen Current Theatrical Trailer; a stills gallery that emphasizes state get photographs but does include some appealing on-the-set photos of Gene Tierney in her wheelchair (she broke her foot during production and continued filming against her doctor's advice) ; Theatrical Trailers for the five previously-released Fox Studio Classics DVDs; an A&E "Biography" segment on Rex Harrison; and audio commentaries including remarks by film historian Jeanine Basinger who supervised the cataloging of the Tierney archives in Connecticut ... and whose name is misspelled on the DVD package. (Draw to go, Fox! You REALLY need to hire a film historian to proof-read your DVD packages. They're uniformly wrong, filled with both typos and misinformation.) Despite its flaws, this DVD edition is the detached one available of this classic, greatly-beloved film and is therefore cheerfully recommended.

Buy,Download, Or Stream The Ghost and Mrs. Muir! Click Here
Trivia note: Not surprisingly, after Tierney died in 1991 at the age of 70 (not 71 as eminent in the DVD's liner notes), "The Ghost and Mrs. Muir" was the film chosen to portray the actress' career during the two-day auction of many of her personal effects at the Hart Galleries in Houston, Texas. The screening was a most fitting tribute to both a worthy actress and a glowing human being.
This was the movie that convinced me that the gigantic cover romances keen couples that were not able to kiss or even touch. The Ghost the behind Captain Daniel Gregg, played by a bristling Rex Harrison, while Mrs. Lucy Muir is Gene Tierney, a widow who moves into the captain's seaside cottage with her young daughter (played as a child by Natalie Wood, by Vanessa Brown as an adult) . Of course, he wants to be frightening and accelerate her away from "his" home, but she, of course, finds him endearing. He declares he is not ashamed to have lived the live of a man and she counters that being alive is not a crime. They talk about everything except their feelings for each other, but that is the honest topic of all of their conversations. When Miles Fairley, another one of George Sanders patented silvery-tongued rouges, enters Lucy's life offering her a chance for happiness in the loyal world, the Captain loves her enough to leave her, not bright that Fairley has a secret. However, while the title characters do not live happily ever after, there is a astounding ending to the film. Definitely one of my ten well-liked Romance movies of all time with edifying interaction between Harrison and Tierney (her best film by far) . Adapted by Philip Dunne from R. A. Dick's new, with solid direction from Joseph L. Mankiewicz and a pleasant get from Bernard Herrmann. "The Ghost and Mrs. Muir" is a treasured Golden Oldie, not to be confused with the downhearted sitcom television produced in the unhurried 60's.
Avex DVD To AVI, MPEG2, 3g, mp4, PSP, Ipod Converter Software...Hurry!
Earn Extra Cash from Home | Multiple Income Streams | Multiple Streams of Income | Money From Home | Make Money on the Internet

What are the truly enormous, classic romances on film? Many would deem of "Casablanca", and justifiably so. However, in its contain charming, subtle method, "I Know Where I'm Going" deserves a high situation on any such list. My wife and I decided to gape this as our "Valentine's Day" movie--a perfect choice.
I enlighten the grand demand is--why is a movie that is so predictable, so big? As usual, the respond is a combination of handsome ingredients--script, direction, setting and performances, both lead and serve.
Dame Wendy Hiller stars as a sparkling, independent and arrogant young woman who "knows where she is going". Actually, she is "going" to a remote island off the west sail of Scotland to marry a great older, but incredibly wealthy man. There is never any suggestion of a relationship between these two people or that they care for one another. It is presented to us as an "arranged" marriage, unbiased as this fellow ( we never actually gape him on shroud ) would plot up one of his business deals. Of course, fate intervenes.

Buy,Download, Or Stream I Know Where I'm Going! - Criterion Collection! Click Here
Several days of poor weather prevent our heroine from leaving the coastal village to meet her intended on the island. During this time, she meets a naval officer who also happens to be the local laird, played by Roger Livesey. Even though he is attracted to Ms. Hiller, the Livesey character does not try to "sweep her off her feet"--he simply opens her eyes to the charms and rewards of a simple life where "people are not poor--they impartial don't have any money". Before long, she develops feelings for this man, which makes her even more anxious to arrive the island and her husband-to-be, so that she can support her word and "do the accurate thing". Of course, you can't fight fate--can you?
There are various subplots spellbinding an weak Scottish curse, a frightening encounter with a whirlpool, and relationships intriguing some of the local people. Although shot in dusky and white, the beauty of Scotland is definitely one of the "stars" of this film. While Hiller and Livesey are pleasurable in the leading roles, they receive delicate attend from Pamela Brown and a group of Scottish actors, including Finlay Currie. Actually, were there any films interesting Scotland from the 30s to 60s which did not have Finlay Currie in the cast? He is like the patron saint of Scottish movie actors!
Criterion, as usual, gives us a fair image, and some nice extras to go with this Powell/Pressburger classic. When Martin Scorcese is asked if he would "remake" the film, he basically says no--why mess around with perfection? Thank you, Mr. Scorcese--a man of taste, as well as talent!

Buy,Download, Or Stream I Know Where I'm Going! - Criterion Collection! Click Here
This is a movie where you can fair curl up with your partner, relax ( except for that whirlpool! ) and savor some unforgettable characters who learn what is really famous in life. A incredible DVD to have. Now--when is the next flight to Scotland?
This is one of the big romantic movies, and like all of the Michael Powell and Emeric Pressburger films, it's quirky and fresh. Joan Webster (Wendy Hiller) has always known where she's going. She's headstrong and definite to marry a man who is wealthy and has site. Her fiance is an industrialist (this is at the tail waste of WWII), older than she, who is living on a leased island off the flit of Scotland. They're to be married on the island, and Joan takes the shriek to a exiguous village on the waft, where she'll go across on the ferry. Dreadful weather sets in and she has to wait at the home of another woman, a woman of current sense and small money, who also has staying with her an dilapidated friend and naval commander, Torquil MacNeil (Roger Livesey) .

Buy,Download, Or Stream I Know Where I'm Going! - Criterion Collection! Click Here

This is Joan Webster's myth, her determination to find to the island, her growing unease with MacNeil because he doesn't fit into her plans, her putting at risk a young couple who are in care for and, as she comes to realize, may have better values than she does. Of course, there's a narrative about the lairds of Kiloran, with a curse carved into the walls of a crumbling castle. There are villagers who are new but not condescended to. There is an atmosphere of fog and mist and sun which is beautifully photographed. There is a storm-swept boat budge into the teeth of a giant whirlpool, all the scarier because it was filmed in the days before CGO.

Roger Livesey is terrific as MacNeil, the last of the lairds of Kiloran. He made this movie only a couple of years after he did The Life and Death of Colonel Blimp for the Archers. Here he finds himself attracted to this headstrong young woman, then falling in care for with her.

Buy,Download, Or Stream I Know Where I'm Going! - Criterion Collection! Click Here

Pamela Brown plays his friend. She was a suitable actress plagued with abominable health. Here she's all approved sense but with also a stout deal of idea. She's a astonishing looking creature.

And there's Wendy Hiller. In my thought this is the best movie role she ever had. She nails the piece with her certitude, her unease radiant that despite her intentions her plans may be changing, her final recognition that she has been nasty about a lot of things.

At the demolish, MacNeil enters the ruins and breaks the curse...and we realise what the curse was really all about...then hears in the distance the pipers playing, slowly growing louder. These were the pipers hired to play at Joan's wedding and he last saw them and Joan as they prepared to coast across to the island. He looks out and sees the pipers, led by Joan, marching along the road toward him. And then, without strings or lush orchestrations, the former Scottish folk song kicks in sung simply...

I know where I'm going,
I know who's going with me,
The Lord knows who I cherish,
But the de'il knows who I'll marry.

I'll have stockings of silk,
Shoes of shapely green leather,
Combs to buckle my hair
And a ring for every finger.

Feather beds are soft,
Painted rooms are bonny;
But I'd leave them all
To go with my care for Johnny.

Some say he's shaded,
I say he's bonny,
He's the flower of them all
My exquisite, coaxing Johnny.

Well, if you don't glean choked up, all you have beating in your chest is a hunk of muscle.

This is one of the mammoth Powell and Pressburger movies. It's not honest romantic, but it's romantic without being sentimental. It's a spacious myth and a broad film.

The Criteron DVD transfer is noble and the extra features are extremely marvelous.
Earn Extra Cash from Home | Multiple Income Streams | Multiple Streams of Income | Money From Home | Make Money on the Internet
Multiple Income Streams | Multiple Streams of Income | Earn Money From Home | Make Money on the Internet
